After a 20 year military career and 20 year civil service career, I retired from the United States Air Force and moved to New Mexico. The move here was prompted by the good golfing weather and to fulfill my wife's wishes to visit the many art festivals and to enjoy the architecture and culture of the region.
A number of years ago we developed an interest in stained glass and still dabble in that hobby today. It was in 2009, when my wife took a gourd class and brought home her project, that I took notice of gourds. We both began to focus on gourd art - especially at art festivals. We bought a few gourds, a burner, and some inks in order to try our hand at it. So began our gourd art career!!!
My desire is to create pieces that grow in complexity as I progress and to stay away from production work. While I will continue to use lessons learned from past projects and incorporate the ideas shared by fellow artists, I will endeavor to always create unique pieces of art and not duplicate prior creations.
