I have been working with gourds since 1984 after discovering the gourd art of Robert Rivera in a little roadside produce stand in northern New Mexico. At the time I was a painter working in acrylics but the discovery of this three-dimensional, natural canvas excited and captivated my artistic bent. My gourd art “style” ranges from Southwestern motifs to modern. I enjoy trying new techniques and experimenting with that which is beyond my comfort level. Since retiring I love traveling and teaching. I show around the country at different gourd festivals, fine art and craft events. I can be contacted at darstone@msn.com or (505) 250-9660. |
